ABOUT THE POMSKY

There are very few dog breeds in this world as adorable and charming as the Pomsky. Enchanting, robust, small-to-medium dogs with moderate bone, plush double-coats, small pricked ears, and alert, inquisitive personalities, this charming, up-and-coming breed is a blend of Siberian Husky and Pomeranian lineages - commonly referred to as a Miniature Husky or Arctic Spitz.
Looking beyond the obvious “eye candy” appeal you will be hard-pressed to find another breed as charismatic! This little Spitz fills the desire for a small, Husky-like companion with a darling family-oriented temperament, and somewhat less drive than their Husky ancestors.
At first glance, a seemingly unlikely combination, yet both breeds are Spitz-type dogs and their ancient past intertwines, making for an undeniably extraordinary companion!
We have long been breed "purists", but after decades of breeding, our hearts were captivated and then completely whisked away by this debonair little dog! This adorable, moderately-sized, athletic little dog is about the cutest thing on four legs - so we are sure you will fall head-over-heels as well.
The terms "Pomksy", "Miniature Husky", and "Arctic Spitz" are often used interchangeably - but in many cases are not the same breed. The term "Miniature Husky" has become somewhat of an umbrella term, frequently including dogs of varied genetics so it is important to do your research before making a purchase. Adding to the need to research carefully, the popularity of the Pomsky has soared, worldwide, making it a target for backyard breeders and puppy mills - you want to be sure you purchase from a reputable breeder who produces healthy puppies.
All three variations (toy, miniature and standard) are recognized by the most common breed clubs. As we discuss breed club and registration affiliations, it is good to keep in mind that registries are merely databases. They do not denote quality, working ability, breeder experience or practices.
We are members of the AMERICAN POMSKY KENNEL CLUB. We love their push toward proper structure, health, temperament, and education!

Plush - medium length, dense fur, generally under 3” in length
Wooly - long length, dense fur, generally more than 3” in length

INTERNATIONAL POMSKY ASSOCIATION (IPA)
Formed in May of 2014, the INTERNATIONAL POMSKY ASSOCIATION (IPA) is the original breed club for the "Pomsky".
CONTINENTAL KENNEL CLUB (CKC)
The CONTINENTAL KENNEL CLUB INC was founded in 1991, so is a "new kid on the block" when compared to giants such as the American Kennel Club or the United Kennel Club. The CKC is an all-breed canine registry hosting an incredible array of experienced breeders, dog trainers, dog owners and other varied canine professionals. They started with exceptional customer service and have continued to expand their services from registration, owner/breeder education, sanctioned shows and events, advertising and more.
The CKC allows for the registration of "designer" breeds, but under specific conditions; animals must be born to purebred, registered parents and the resulting offspring are registered as "non-purebred" in these instances. An explanation for this practice is found on their site, "While “designer breed” is a relatively new term, the crossing of existing breeds to create new breeds is nothing new. Most purebred dogs recognized today are less than 200 years old and the result of crossing the existing breeds of the time. For example, the Doberman Pinscher was once a “designer breed,’ that consisted of seven different breeds, including the Weimaraner, the Rottweiler, and the German Pinscher. Today, it is one of the most easily recognizable dog breeds."
Our foundation dogs come from purebred, registered lineages (Siberian Husky and Pomeranian.) We have chosen to register our dogs and puppies through the CKC as a way to maintain proper record of our foundation animals and future generations. But... there's more!
