| Most often, the mother moves into different positions. One minute up, the next laying down. It is obvious that she is trying to find a comfortable position - and this process helps move the puppies into the birth canal. |

| The mother usually chews through the cord with her teeth - Too clean a cut, however, can cause bleeding from the puppy's "belly button". Generally, the chewing action from the mother crushes the cord and stops the blood flow. While accidents can sometimes happen, usually momma dogs have know how to care for their little ones. |
